"It was the big bang that started it all! Not one single choral work goes further back with the LA Master Chorale than the B Minor Mass. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was only 123 days old when Music Director Roger Wagner stepped onto the stage to conduct Bach’s beloved masterpiece as the first-ever performance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Grant Gershon temporarily sets aside his penchant for intimate, historically informed performances to present a Bach concert designed to “blow the roof of Disney Hall,” featuring a much larger chorus and orchestra for this grand anniversary occasion." Beethoven the pianist revolutionized what it meant to be a public performer, creating the template of the artist as a culture's creative conscience. Dudamel and Andsnes bring their acclaimed Beethoven cycle to a climactic conclusion with the "Emperor" Concerto and the Choral Fantasy, with its early hints of the "Ode to Joy." Dudamel also includes John Adams' enthralling first piece for chorus and orchestra, Harmonium, based on striking poetry by John Donne and Emily Dickinson. For more details, visit laphil.com.

Described as "an overwhelming experience" (Chicago Tribune) and "brilliantly effective" (New York Times), Voices of Light merges the legendary 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc with a live musical score composed by Richard Einhorn. In 1981, long after having been thought lost to a warehouse fire, a perfect copy of the original film was discovered in a janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution. After its prompt restoration, the film quickly climbed its way up to the critics' list of the top 10 greatest films ever made. Einhorn's music adds a powerful, haunting backdrop to this cinematic masterpiece. For more details, please visit lamc.org.
