It’s been a great couple weeks of singing so far, culminating in a weekend of epic music-making:
-Tan Dun’s astounding Buddha Passion with LA Master Chorale, LAPhil, and Gustavo Dudamel at the helm
-a short set of a cappella pieces (Duruflé, Barber, and others) with friends
-a long-overdue set of jazz tunes (including 1 of my own!) with the amazing Art Lande. Here’s a clip on youtube.
This week, things continue with our final rehearsals for Eric Whitacre’s “The Sacred Veil.”
It seems significant that today was Saraswati Puja. She’s the goddess of knowledge and the arts, always holding a musical instrument, reminding us to “tune one’s heart and mind to live in harmony with others and the world.”
Music wins once again.
